4:00 am
inexcusable behavior by our leaders. and they argue elliot that this applies to the jury absolutely applies the jury and a beat me to it because it was the next thing in my head which is that we have become desensitized it's in this country, maybe it's donald trump, maybe it started with bill clinton, maybe it's a combination, something in the water, but desensitized to the madness that comes out of politicians and listening to this, it is, and we're talking about this in the break that the starr report when it came out was so seismic hearing about that cigar in that dress and so on, and buying he now it's the president got spanked with the magazine fertile that role that they knew and it's, it's, it's almost depressing and embarrassing about where politics of sunk in american politics caught up with sort of our culture, right? >> in terms of reality tv, this sort of be in the norm. >> yeah, very quickly is where i want an election since 2016, so it's not the case that people are coming out of the woodwork to say this is fine with me it's a great way to
4:01 am
punctuate this governs asian molly ball. >> thank you guys very much for being here. thanks to all of you for joining us. i'm casey, how it don't go anywhere. santa new central starts right now the scene plosive with the president, joe biden's red line. now when it comes to israel's war against hamas in gaza, is warning to israeli leaders. the us will stop sending offensive weapons if it invades the gaza city of rafah standing by for stormy, stormy daniels back of the stand shortly in the criminal trial against donald trump, after testifying in detail about their alleged sexual encounter. >> we have new reporting on how the defense team plans to change strategies in its questioning. >> and what is going on with the miss usa organization? this week, not one, but two winners have given up their crowns. ms team usa is the latest to resign days after miss usa
4:02 am
resigned, but the two have very different reasons for stepping down on their aside and we're john berman and kate bolduan. this is new central the cnn exclusive sit down with president joe biden for the first time. >> he is warning israel the us will stop sending bombs and artillery shells to israel if prime minister benjamin netanyahu launches a major offensive in rafah in this one-on-one interview with cnn's erin burnett, biden also said civilians have been killed in gaza as a consequence of those bombs there's also marks the first time really president biden is using his power as israel's main weapons supplier to publicly demonstrate he's not happy with the direction of israel's military campaign and the direction it's headed. now biden spoke to aaron in wisconsin where he was
4:03 am
promoting new economic investment in the battleground state, a state he one in 2020 estate donald trump won and 16, and a state, both of them need in 24 the focus for many voters in wisconsin, the economy biden touting a new 3.3 billion dollar investment. they're coming from microsoft mr. president. thank you so much for being with me so trump attended a groundbreaking here where we are for foxconn he promised 13,000 jobs and only about 1,000 of those actually exist right now. >> so i know you're promising more than 2000 union construction jobs and then 100,000 people are going to get trained in ai here why should people here believe that you will succeed at creating jobs where trump failed? >> he's never succeeded in creating jobs. and i've never failed i've created over 15 million jobs. this is of a president 15 million and three quarters years. and secondly,
4:04 am
microsoft is a serious player and they're very much engaged and making sure they pick this area as the home-base for their ai initiative in the nation and they're gonna, they're gonna do it. and it's just like and by the way, well, i shouldn't go and open trump has he started off with the golden shovels and a groundbreaking here and talk about this been the eighth wonder world why does he ever done anything he said i'm not being facetious think about it he started off, he lost other than herbert hoover is the only other president lost more jobs and create it as four-year term he's the way he is & of his last year when we deal with covid men and people die, he tell people inject bleach that
4:05 am
may, that may do it wasn't a real problem when he did an interview, one of your colleagues, or you just flat out acknowledged he knew how dangerous didn't want to speak to it it's just and look at what he says. he's going to do if he gets elected. he says gonna do away with what i've done on medicare, reducing the price of medicare drastically so he's gonna do away with the affordable care act says going to do just down the line so we have a very different view. i look at it from a physician not being facetious from the grand perspective, he looks for mar-a-lago perspective he wants to give more significant tax cuts of the super now we've got a billionaires in america know what the average federal taxes, 8.3%. it talks about. and if i want to raise it to 25%, that would raise i would raise 40 billion for $400 billion over ten years i can further reduce deaths in which i've been able to reduce me. it's just a
4:06 am
completely different perspective on how we should proceed when it comes though to the 100,000 jobs specifically that we're talking about here, people training an ai, the actual jobs when are they actually going to have jobs as 100,000 people that are being trained beginning probably the first trash and three to four years. the community colleges are going to the one where we're at we're going to provide for 2000 folks and to be able to be trained 200 a year and it's kinda go the whole pipeline goes all the way through up to high schools and training facilities and it used to be that when when i was in high school or even at the tail end or tail end do for you what is school? we most public high schools had shopping, home manager will work with your hands. doesn't exist anymore and so it allows people who
4:07 am
have skills and be able to train to technical skills to be able to make a decent living without a college degree and it's what we need. >> so when we talk about the bet on ai and sort of what it means, i don't know if you saw this weekend warren buffett had hit his annual meeting and he talked about ai. >> so the first thing he said was, okay, it's got a normal, enormous potential for good but then he likened it to the development of nuclear weapons in the, and he said it scares the hell out of him. you know, he always says it like he sees it. >> and then he says, he doesn't understand a thing about it that may capture how many americans feel. >> does ai scare you? >> hey i, had a norris potential enormous downside potential that's why three years ago i got together the major architects, ai, the different operations around the world. i met with them in europe and here in the united states and arranges all the way
4:08 am
from one of the leaders saying is real, it's going to take over human thinking all the way to phones to say no, it's not a problem and so that's why i set out certain standards. it has a a kid can do no harm and we have to make sure we know how to do that we have to make sure it's controlled and that's how that's how we how it is most significant. i think technological development in human history the most significant human history, yeah, and not in terms of war and peace, but in terms of being able to one liter and the ai community said to me, is going to overtake human thinking and which is frightening, terrifying. but the other most think it can be used for everything from find cures for cancer to significantly increase productivity so when you talk, about the economy, of course, it is by far the most important issue for voters. it's also true right now, mr. president, that voters by a wide margin,
4:09 am
trust trump more on the economy. they say that in pools and part of the reason for that maybe the numbers and you're aware of many of these, of course the cost of buying a home in the united states is double what it was when you look at your monthly costs from before the pandemic, real income, when you account for inflation is actually down since you took office, economic growth last week, far short of expectations consumer confidence, maybe no surprise is near a two-year low with less than six months to go to election day. >> are you worried that you're running out of time to turn that around? we've already turned it around. look you look at the the michigan survey for 65% american people think they're in good shape economically, i think the nation's not in good shape, but they're personally good shape. >> the polling data has been wrong all along you, how many you guys do a poll? cnn, how many pokes you have to call to get one response? the idea that we're in a situation where
4:10 am
things are so bad that folks, i mean we've created more jobs. we've made, we're in a situation where people have access to good paying jobs and the last i saw, the combination of the inflation the cost of inflation, all those things that's really worrisome to people with good reason. that's why i'm working very hard to bring the cost of rentals down to increase the number of homes that are available what of them, but let me say it this way when i started this administration, people were saying are going to be a collapsing economy. we have the strongest economy in the world me say it again. in the world, although gdp last week was far short of expectations, oh, wasn't looked, gdp is still look at the response to the markets overwhelmingly positive. >> were womanly positive and one of the reasons why people feel good about it, not being as strong as it was before, is they believe that the fed is going to respond. >> they hope they're gonna get a rate cut.
4:11 am
>> yeah. >> well, so what i mean no president has had the run. we've had in terms of creating jobs and bringing down inflation was 9% when i can't office 9%, but look, people have a right to be concerned ordinary people. the idea that you bounce a check and you get $130 fee for bouncing the check i change that. can't charge more than eight bucks for that. or your credit card, you don't your late payment, $35 i mean, there's corporate greed going on up there and its got to be dealt with. >> what about, i mean, but there's real pain. i mean, grocery prices are up 30% more than 30% since the beginning of the pandemic. and people are spending warn food and groceries and they have at anytime really in the past 30 years that's a real day-to-day pain that people know though, really is. & as real but the fact is that if you take a look at what they're mad, people have they had the money to
4:12 am
spend. it's angers them and angers me that you have to spend more for example, the whole idea of this notion of senator casey talked about shrinkflation yeah, i think you're always on your full price for smaller bottle of samples stickers more they did a thing that's like 20% less for the same price. as corporate greed, as corporate greed. and we've got to deal with it and that's what i'm working on. >> i want to ask you about something happening as we sit here and speak and that of course is israeli striking rafah. >> i know that you have paused mr. president shipments of 2000 pound us bombs to israel due to concern that they could be used in any offensive on rafah. >> have those bombs, those powerful 2000 pound bombs, been used to kill civilians in gaza? >> civilians have been killed in gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers. i made it clear that
4:13 am
if they go into rafah, they haven't gone in rafah yet. if they go into rafah i'm not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with rafah to deal with the cities that deal with that problem. we're going to continue to make sure israel is secure in terms of iron dome and their ability to respond to attacks like came out of you the least recently. but it's assist wrong. we're not going to we're not going to supply the weapons. and artillery shells use that. have been used three shells as well. yeah, i totally so just to understand what they're doing right now in rafah, is that not going into rafah as you don't they haven't gone into the population what they did is right on the border. >> and it's causing problems with right now in terms of with egypt, which i've worked very hard to make sure we have a relationship and help but i've made it clear to bibi and the
4:14 am
war cabinet. they're not going to get our support. if in fact they go on these population centers were not walking away from israel's security, walking away from israel's ability to wage war in those areas. >> so it's not over your red line yet not yet, but it's we've we've held up the weapons we've had we've held up. >> that one shipment as an all shipments than design we hold that up. >> when to ask you one more thing. if i may. the images that people see out of gaza, a horrific the un's talking about some of these mass graves and the summary executions that there has been evidence of torture. the images of children it breaks anyone's hard to look at it. >> and obviously we've seen that frustration here in the on college campuses mr. president signs at college campuses, some say genocide. >> joe any of us have gone to those campuses. sometimes we hear that can do you hear the
4:15 am
message of those young americans absolutely. >> i hear the message. look thanks first of all there's a legitimate right to free speech and protest. there's a legitimate right to do that. they have a right to do that there's not elizabeth. legitimate right to use hate speech. there's now a gentleman, right to threaten jewish students is not legitimate right? to block people access to class. that's against the law. it's against the law. so if you look at the data these demonstrations are real but they're not nearly i mean, everybody's, i made a speech on the holocaust day i pointed out that it took seven decades to get to the place where after the holocaust occurred. and are still antisemitism. look what's happened in seven weeks, seven,
4:16 am
70. i mean, what's happening? everybody's sort of forgotten about what happened in israel. those 1,200 young kids murdered. i saw pictures now, i went over there swiftly after a mother and daughter being roped together and then kerosene brand burned to death? nothing like that to happen the jewish community, since the holocaust so when i, when i went over immediately after that happened i said to bibi, don't make the same mistake. we made america we want to get bin laden and will help you get similar but we went into afghanistan to we owed made sense to go get but mod made no sense to try and unify afghanistan made no sense in my view to engage in thinking that & urac, they have a nuclear weapon, don't make the same mistake. focus, i'm will help you focus on getting the bad guys but& the got to
4:17 am
think through what is happening after gaza after this is over who, who's going to occupy gaza i've been working with arab states and won't match them if they want to get them in trouble. but five liters in the av community we're prepared to help rebuild gaza prepared to help transition to a two-state solution to govern it well to maintain the security and peace while they're working out of palestinian authority, it's real and not corrupt mr. president. >> thank you very much. i appreciate your time today thank you. all right. so what has the impact been already from this revealing interview? house speaker mike johnson just called a quote, a senior moment. we've got new reporting from around the world at you told the courtroom she had sex with donald trump. she told them what he was wearing. she even told them how it all happened. so what else will stormy daniels reveal when she gets back on the stand this

4:27 am
not sure where to begin, but let me just begin at the end there, julie, if i can if barack obama's advice that joe biden really was keep doing what you're doing, how sound do you think that advice is well, look, first and foremost, he's not running in a vacuum. the president, he's running against donald trump and all he has to do to get democratic base to turnout, which is what he needs to do in these in when districts is to explain to them exactly what he's saying, which is that donald trump is a threat to democracy. this is not a policy dispute like we used to have with george bush or mitt romney or john mccain. this is a threat to her way of life and the bottom line is that that's something that president has to remind people over and over and over again. there are very few decided voter to this point, everybody is made up their mind at either loved donald trump or the load donald trump, the either support joe biden's policies or they don't all either side has to do is make sure their voters get to the poles. and that's what the president has
4:28 am
to make sure his voters do i think the headline out of this entire interview was president binds pronouncement on aid to israel and offensive weapons that he says he will not provide. >> if israel goes into the population centers in rafah, house speaker mike johnson, who by the way, was part of the republican leadership that held up a vote on aid to israel for some time, although ultimately it did get passed, he said to politico overnight actually just released a short time ago. he thinks that the president's statements to aaron or a senior moment his way of saying he disagrees with that. how do you think it plays politically i think plays poorly for president biden, if you look at polling recently, more americans still believe that israel is right to respond to the horrific attacks october 7, they're actually opposing many of the demonstrations they're seeing on college campuses throughout this contrary, and not only that, it's not just bad politics is bad policy. >> i served in the state department. we've seen what
4:29 am
happens when your hamstring our allies as they need to respond in these critical times. and by the way, the worst way to run any sort of conflict is from a capital thousands of miles away dictated by politicians. these decisions are best made by those who are actually the field, those who actually have the military assessments and capabilities in the field to make those decisions. and at times like this, it's a presence responsibility to stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies and their leadership not try to hamstring them as they try respond to one was brutal attacks that they've ever seen. and that's what i think speaker johnson was expressing frustration about it was really speaking for the majority of americans when he did so i'm going to come back to speaker johnson and just a minute with you, matt, but julie just one last point on the president biden interview. >> how do you think it will play, particularly his pronouncement on aid to israel with the democratic coalition. as it now is well, this is incredibly, incredibly complicated issue. you've got the president's internal politics here domestically, you've got israeli domestic
4:30 am
politics, which are driving up netanyahu's decisions in as much as they're drag being driven by military considerations you've got our allies who are trying to negotiate. our allies in the middle east who are trying to negotiate a ceasefire with a terrorist government and hamas. you've got our allies in western europe were increasingly disturbed about the way that israel is prosecuting its war in gaza. and so it's very easy to say what you just give bibi netanyahu, everything he wants but there are considerations in both capitals, both in jerusalem and in washington domestically about what that means. and that's something that president has to weigh. >> so matt, you brought up mike johnson who survived a motion to vacate move, i guess it was never actually a full vote on the motion to vacate because they ended up failing on the motion to table right there, but added as this was happening, actually, frankly, after it happened, form. president trump put out a statement of sort of, sort of support for my johnson. let me read part of what it said. it said with the majority of one shortly, ghraieb, three or
4:31 am
four, we're not in a position of voting on a motion to vacate at some point, we may very well be but this is not the time. at some point we may very well be that support for speaker johnson math oh, look, you know speaker johnson, president trump have now had joint press conference, have had joint statements it's been widely circulated, reported that president trump was talking to some of his allies in common first about stepping back from this motion to vacate, it's a part of the reason you saw such limited support, even among the republican conference for it despite there are some broad fissures right now within the republican conference with respect to foreign aid but i think this is donald trump, as usual, trying to to try and play probably not political prognosticator are now hopeful basically i said 40, you're just said you're okay for now. man, he just basically said you're okay for now. that's what that reads, right? >> well it's a reminder to
4:32 am
speaker johnson would donald trump often does, which is to remind them that the end of the day his support can always be negotiated keeps them on their toes. i think he's doing that as well with the tweet like that. or truth like that all right. >> well, julie, virginia's keep matt mount mauer is i'm truly appreciative for you being with me this morning, not just for now, but forever. thank you very much for your time. >> we're showing live pictures outside of donald trump's apartment building. donald trump is about to head back to court. >> his criminal trial continues and stormy daniels returns to the stand,& at least four tornadoes, tore through parts of tennessee overnight. >> an ally officials, they're trying to get a handle on the scope and scale of the damage just as there are new warnings today for the southeast, including georgia, we'll be back make your dream car.

4:37 am
cover up hush money payments to daniels all in an effort to influence the 2016 election. trump arrived back in new york only a few hours ago from a day not campaigning in florida, but hanging out at mara the logo this morning, florida senator rick scott's team says he is going to court with donald trump and you will remember he is on that vp list. cnn's brynn gingras is live outside of the court we know that stormy daniel's will take the stand yet again today. what do you know about this? change in the defense strategy yeah sarah. >> so story daniels, when court ended on tuesday, she had been on the stand doing cross-examination for 90 minutes or so, and the defense team has told source courses that they didn't plan to ask her a lot of questions because i didn't think she was his major witness afford this case however, they said they're changing their strategy as you just pointed out, saying they now have a while to go with
4:38 am
their cross-examination. they essentially said they're doing this because they want to repair the record mutation of the former president based on some of the testimony that stormy daniels gave to the prosecution, they were not happy with the fact that we know that former president was not happy with the fact since they asked for a mistrial on tuesday with her insinuation, that the sexual relationship she had with a former president was not consensual. so now they're going to take a lot longer apparently for their cross-examination. of course, we still have redirect after that cross-examination is finished, so it's really unclear how long or how much longer stormy daniels is going to be on the stand. but remember, on tuesday it was a very eventful full day in court on the cross-examination parts. they were certainly clawing at her credibility, questioning her motivations about coming forward. and of course, we fully expect more of that to happen. the question now is how is stormy daniels going to be on the stand? of course, she's had a day off on wednesday since court was dark, to sort of maybe compose herself hello, which we saw very much of a
4:39 am

a degree of accountability which may well be removal from certain committees. gb can do the larger tell granger be punished, but one dumpster fire at a time. >> let's take care of the motion to vacate and then we can worry about whatever comes next one, dumpster fire at a time, quite the statement about so much joining us right now to talk more about all of it as republican congressman from new york, mike lawler. >> thank you so much congressmen for going on. i heard i heard dusty johnson say that yesterday and i just i wrote it down in my book you also had choice words for marjorie taylor greene yesterday about all of this. >> do you think she thomas massie, chip roy, that they should face punishment by the conference for this i do obviously, it is destructive to the majority. it undermines our ability to govern the american people elected us to serve as a check and balance on the disaster. that is the biden administration including the policy announcement that we heard last night on your network and so by doing stunts
4:58 am
like this, all it does is slowed down our ability to do the work we were elected to do. i think chip roy and thomas massie both serve on the rules committee. they should be immediately removed from that committee. you're not entitled to that committee. you're not there to represent yourself. you're there to do the work of the majority and i think there should be consequences here. >> what do you think the cons what other, what does punishment looked like for marjorie taylor greene well, i said going back to when matt gaetz and seven useful idiots teamed up to remove kevin mccarthy. >> that there needed to be consequences and the failure to have that would allow this nonsense to continue. and obviously that's born true so i leave the conference needs to consider removal from committee
4:59 am
let me, to that point. green tweeted this being kicked off committees is nothing new for me. badge of honor. don't threaten me with a good time. thomas massie defending himself for standing with greene wrote this, i have some sympathy toward our colleagues who are lashing out at us right now because they're going to go home to take an whipping from their base base because they voted wrong here tonight to that you say what it's delusional i mean, the reality is for all the things that they talk about wanting to accomplish, the reason that they're unable to accomplish anything is because they're are incapable of working as a team and capable of negotiating. >> look, anybody who's been married understands. you have to find compromise. some of us clearly are better at it than others. but the reality is, you're never going to get everything you want in a divided government. speaker johnson has done a very effective job in the last month and a half, getting the appropriation chin's work past,

getting pfizer reauthorized, getting the supplemental aid package to our allies, including israel past and the faa re-authorization is coming up next week. so we are doing the work that we're supposed to do. obviously, i get my colleagues would like some more conservative wins. but guess what? the reason that the beakers weekend in his negotiation is because of their inability to compromise and work as a team and as a conference. they have nobody to blame but themselves. and frankly, my voters appreciate the fact that i offer a voice of sanity in a sea of chaos. so my voters are not going to be upset with my vote in fact, my voters think these two are idiots let me change focus. >> we can you mentioned policy announcement is you call it from joe biden last night speaking to erin burnett and talking about how if israel goes into rafah rather in a major way, that he will not supply the weapons and
