"action news" was the first to report his arrest last night. today, a new look at the place he was caught and hearing from the people who helped bring him in life after a manhunt that dragged on for almost two months. david henry live where almost everyone is breathing a little easier today, david. >> that certainly is the case out here, brian. as the community was on edge for almost seven weeks, you can imagine how they feel tonight. it is winding down they command center. there is a great sense of relief that the worst is now over and they've got their man. >> i am proud of the way our people stepped up and never lost faith and got this done. >> 48 days and $10 million later eric frein was taken into

custody late yesterday. he was spotted in a field by u.s. marshals on routine search patrol. the field at the birchwood pocono airpark in tannersville. frein did not resist and followed orders. this photo shows him slumped over the hood of a car shortly after captured near an abandoned hanger. the police searched that hanger today and found the alleged murder weapon and over evidence including a journal. frein was taken to court arraigned on numerous charges and hecklers in the crowd shout the insults and told him he was lucky to be caught before hunting season. >> we are now starting to find the answers that the community desired in this case. >> this all began when frein allegedly shot and killed state trooper, bryon dickson and injured alex douglass. and it consumed millions of

dollar. and frein was apparently preparing for it for the past two years. thes police say he was reforceful the last seven weeks. >> he was able to get into cabins and other unoccupied structures. over cases he had things hidden, but he got shelter and out of the weather, much as we expected was occurring. >> frein now housed instead by the state at the county prison where he is isolated from the rest of the population in the five-by-eight-foot cell. and police say frein has been talking with them. and "action news" learned that he has given the police a confession. now coming up on "action news at 6:00" we will hear first-hand from the u.s. marshal whose tracked him down and captured him yesterday. life in the -- what township is this? i forget where we are in the poconos, david henry channel 6 "action news." >> an extensive search zone, so we understand that, david, thank

homes and taken to a red cross shelter for the night. many people say they were not able to get out the front doors and had to find ditch ways out. the flames if he were thick. >> smoke everywhere. we had too go out the back window through a fire escape. >> it was crazy. kids running out crying and screaming. and people running out with no clothes on. >> an emergency shelter set up at the high school for everyone affected. the firefighter and person injured were taken to the hospital in stable condition. the cause of this fire still under investigation. from our delaware news room police arrested a man they say kidnapped and raped alwoman and held her captive for a week. they caught 28 year old brandon turner yesterday after they found a note in a mcdonald's bathroom in dover. the note written on the wall in

wake-up and indicated that the woman was being held against her will. the police used surveillance pictures and tracked the pair down. turner in jail on $651,000 bail. septa officials and union leaders are meeting for another round of contract negotiations today. there still is no deal on the table. with president obama coming to town this weekend, an election take just four days away, the threat of a strike couldn't come at a worst time. eva pilgrim live now in old city where both sides seem to have made some kind of progress today, eva. >> that's right, shirleen. a positive turn today in talking to septa and its workers. a lot of progress made. this is leaving many hopeful that the workers won't go on trying. the constant stream of people get on and off the septa buses all day. >> in the morning i take the 57 and then i that i the g.

halloween began with a scene straight from a horror movie in the nation's capital. a man tried to attack a police officer with this large axe in d.c. police say the officer was

sitting in his marked car when the man swung the weapon and shattered the driver's side window. the officer got out of the car and struggled with the man, who eventually ran away and left the axe behind. the f.b.i. has offered to help as investigators search for the suspect and motive. today the attack brutally similar to an axe attack on a new york city police officer last week. transit officials in new york investigating a frightening close call for commuters in queens. look at this massive construction drill that sliced right through the ceiling of a subway tunnel yesterday. the 10-inch bit came within inches of a packed train. fortunately the subway's emergency system triggered the brakes after it sensed something hit the top of the train. they were drilling an underground well and somehow missed their mark. things did not go according to plan for a missouri daredevil over nignight the base jumper tg

guy. >> thank you. another check on the roads right now. >> matt pellman in the traffic center with another update. >> we love it, especially on halloween when delays and accidents make like a ghost and vanish, brian and shirleen. that is exactly what happened surprisingly enough in delaware. our crash on the northbound of 495 meant during the last half-hour blocking the roadways entirely, it is now completely gone. not so spooky a great thing. and the northbound delay, speeds in the 60s. use 495, still not using the westbound of the pennsylvania turnpike. i-76 had a crash between valley forming and downing town off to the side, but giving us speeds in the 20s as you see for about a seven or eight-mile stretch. not where you want to find yourself. you could instead find yourself on southbound 202. if you do you'll find yourself in this jam. but it is just volume at this point and a little police activity off to the side. all lanes open. and up get through this delay
